Intumescent Fire Protection

Apex provides specialist intumescent coating application for structural steel as part of a defined passive fire-protection specification. Correct preparation, compatible primers, controlled film build, environmental monitoring and accurate application records are essential. Work is undertaken in accordance with the project specification and coating manufacturer requirements, with attention given to traceability, coverage and the quality of the completed system.

Every project begins with an assessment of the substrate, existing coating and site conditions. The exact preparation and coating specification is then matched to the work required. For exterior work, UV-resistant systems are specified where appropriate to help reduce fading and preserve the colour and appearance for longer.

What happens when you contact Apex?

1. Share the building details

Send the postcode, photographs of each elevation, close-ups of defects, approximate dimensions and your preferred finish. Tell us about trading hours, access restrictions and any deadline.

2. Assess the work

We review the surfaces, existing coating, corrosion, masking and access. Where photographs cannot establish the scope, we discuss a site assessment before confirming the preparation and coating approach.

3. Agree the written quotation

The proposed work should identify included surfaces, preparation, repairs, coating system, colour, access arrangements, price and exclusions. Programme, payment terms and applicable guarantee conditions are agreed before work begins.
