Before work began
Original condition
The electric entrance gate and uPVC fencing had become visibly faded following exposure to sunlight. The loss of colour left the entrance looking tired and reduced the visual impact of these prominent features.
The main concern was the weathered appearance of the existing surfaces. The project focused on refreshing the gate and fencing through on-site preparation and spray coating, bringing their appearance back in keeping with the surrounding property.
Because the gate and fence sit together at the entrance, achieving a matching colour across both was an important part of the refurbishment.
The Apex standard
Preparation
Apex thoroughly cleaned and degreased the electric gate and uPVC fencing before applying the new coating. This stage removed dirt and surface contamination that could interfere with adhesion or affect the appearance of the finish.
The surfaces were then scotched using Scotch-Brite abrasive pads. This preparation created a keyed surface for the new coating, with attention given to the profiles and edges of the gate and fencing.
Careful preparation was central to the project. Restoring faded exterior surfaces requires more than applying a fresh colour: the existing material must be properly cleaned and prepared to receive the coating.
Apex completed this preparation on site before proceeding with the three-coat polyurethane application.
Completed finish
The result
Apex restored the faded electric gate and uPVC fencing with a coordinated RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey finish, giving the property’s entrance a refreshed and more consistent appearance.
The matching colour brought the gate and fence together visually, complementing the property and improving the presentation of its boundary. Three coats of UV-resistant polyurethane provided the completed exterior finish.
This Darras Hall project demonstrates Apex Specialist Spray Coatings Ltd’s capability in on-site gate spraying, uPVC fence painting and residential exterior refurbishment in the Newcastle area. Apex carried out the work from preparation through to coating, applying the same attention to detail used on its larger industrial and commercial projects.
