Range Rover & Jaguar Garage – Centre Panel Refurbishment for Lloyd Signage — Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear

I was responsible for completing the full refurbishment of the centre façade panels at a Range Rover and Jaguar dealership in Newcastle upon Tyne. The work formed part of the premises’ transition from its previous Stratstone branding to new Lloyd signage. The old Stratstone sign had left numerous mounting holes across the centre panels, all of which required repairing before I could apply the new coating. I also removed the temporary Lloyd sign to provide clear access to the complete working area. I individually filled the former signage holes before sanding and feathering the repairs into the surrounding panel surfaces. Following the preparation work, I professionally spray coated all the centre panels in RAL 9006 White Aluminium using HMG 2K polyurethane paint. The selected colour produced the required metallic silver appearance and provided a clean, professional background for the permanent Lloyd signage. Poor weather conditions affected the programme and slowed my progress, but I carefully managed the work around the available conditions and successfully completed the project. I was extremely pleased with the finished result, and the centre elevation was left fully prepared for the new Lloyd signage to be installed.

LocationNewcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Building typeRange Rover and Jaguar automotive dealership, service centre and commercial garage
ServiceI completed the full refurbishment, repair, preparation and professional spray coating of the dealership’s centre façade panels, ready for the installation of new Lloyd signage.
Coating systemI used an HMG two-pack polyurethane coating system, professionally spray applied to the fully prepared centre façade panels. I selected the HMG 2K polyurethane system to produce a tough, durable and consistent finish suitable for an exposed, customer-facing automotive dealership. The coating also provided the clean metallic appearance required to complement the dealership’s new Lloyd branding and permanent signage.

Before work began

Original condition

The centre façade panels showed clear evidence of the dealership’s previous Stratstone signage. After the old sign had been removed, numerous fixing and mounting holes remained visible across the panels. These holes could not simply be painted over because they would have remained visible beneath the new sprayed finish and affected the appearance of the replacement Lloyd branding. A temporary Lloyd sign had also been installed across the working area. I needed to remove this carefully before beginning the full repair, preparation and coating process. The panels therefore required detailed repair work to eliminate the old fixing points and provide a smooth, consistent foundation for the new metallic silver finish.

The Apex standard

Preparation

I began by carefully removing the temporary Lloyd sign so I could access the entire centre façade. I then inspected all the fixing points left by the former Stratstone signage. I individually filled every mounting hole and allowed the repair material to cure before beginning the sanding process. Once cured, I thoroughly sanded the filled areas and feathered the edges of each repair into the surrounding panel surface. This removed raised edges and helped prevent the former mounting points from showing through the finished coating. I continued preparing the wider centre-panel surfaces, paying particular attention to the repaired areas and the locations where the old signage had been mounted. I made sure the surfaces were smooth and properly prepared before beginning the spray application. I also protected the surrounding areas that were not included within the coating specification before professionally spraying the panels.

Completed finish

The result

I successfully transformed the centre section of the Range Rover and Jaguar dealership, creating a clean and professional new background for the permanent Lloyd signage. I repaired, sanded and blended all the fixing holes left by the previous Stratstone sign, removing the visible evidence of the former branding from the centre panels. I then professionally spray coated all the prepared panels in RAL 9006 White Aluminium using HMG 2K polyurethane paint. The metallic silver coating produced a smooth, consistent and durable commercial finish across the complete centre elevation. Difficult weather conditions slowed the project down, but I carefully worked around the available conditions and maintained the required preparation and application standards throughout. I completed the project successfully and was extremely pleased with the final transformation. The centre façade was left fully refurbished and ready for the permanent Lloyd signage to be mounted.
