Building finishes that work together

A commercial colour change often spans curtain walling, entrance doors, shopfront frames, cladding, windows and trims. We plan the finish across these different surfaces so the result reads as one coherent refurbishment, with detailed masking around glazing, signage and nearby finishes.

From assessment to handover

The existing finish and substrate determine cleaning, abrasion, repairs and primer selection. We discuss access, trading hours and customer routes before work starts, then inspect the completed areas and remove masking as the project is handed back.

Customer-facing work with careful protection

A live showroom or retail entrance calls for more than an attractive colour. Glazing, signs, paving, nearby vehicles, door hardware and neighbouring finishes need detailed protection. We plan access and the application sequence around the building's use wherever practical. The surface is cleaned, keyed and repaired before an appropriate primer and spray finish are applied, with edges and junctions inspected before masking is removed.

Dealership and retail projects completed by Apex

Our recorded work includes the Geely garage in Chesterfield, where cladding, curtain walling and entrance elements formed successive phases; BYD showroom transformations in Weymouth and Morpeth; and the Swansway OMODA entrance in Stockport. Apex has also refurbished ScS shopfronts in Carlisle and Cardiff, including prepared metalwork and canopy areas. The case studies and photographs below show the surfaces, locations and finish of the individual jobs rather than a generic portfolio.

One colour scheme across different materials

Commercial buildings often combine painted metal, aluminium frames, cladding, doors and trims that weather at different rates. We assess each material separately before recommending compatible preparation and coatings, then coordinate the agreed RAL colour and sheen across the finished frontage. Sound parts can often be retained and refurbished, while failed coatings, rust and damaged areas receive the attention needed before a new finish is considered.

Clear scope for owners and facilities teams

Send us photographs, the location and the surfaces you want transformed. We can discuss access, trading hours, signage, colours and whether the project needs a site visit. The quotation should set out the surfaces and preparation proposed, coating system, exclusions and practical work sequence. That gives owners, facilities managers and main contractors a basis for planning the refurbishment and comparing the actual work involved.

Common questions

Planning your project

Can a retail or dealership refurbishment be completed in phases?

Suitable projects can be sequenced around entrances, customers and vehicle movements. Any closures, signage changes and protected areas must be agreed in advance; the site and coating conditions determine what is practical.

What information helps you quote for a commercial frontage?

Send overall photographs and close-ups of damaged finishes, the site address, approximate dimensions, opening hours and your required colour. Tell us whether frames, doors, canopy, cladding and trims are all included so the proposal covers the intended frontage.

Can you match our brand colour?

We can work to a specified RAL colour and sheen where suitable for the substrate and coating system.

Can you spray entrance doors and curtain walling?

Yes, where the existing materials and condition are suitable, with glazing and hardware protected.

Can work be phased around customers?

We discuss opening hours, entrances and safe working areas, then stage suitable projects where practical.
