Apex completed project
I was contracted to complete the first phase of a full exterior refurbishment at the Geely car garage in Chesterfield. Phase one concentrated on restoring and recoating the external cladding. The work included chemically cleaning the surfaces, repairing unwanted holes left in the cladding and applying a professional Selemix coating in RAL 9005 Jet Black. This initial phase prepared the main exterior elevations for the next stage of the transformation. We were later scheduled to return and refurbish the curtain walling, sliding entrance doors and additional entrance features.
Before work began
The existing cladding had an aged and inconsistent appearance that no longer complemented the modern Geely dealership branding. The elevations also contained unwanted fixing and signage holes that required repairing before a new coating could be applied. Dirt, general contamination and weathering were present across the exterior surfaces, meaning thorough preparation was essential to achieve a clean and durable finish.
The Apex standard
The cladding was thoroughly chemically cleaned to remove dirt, contamination and surface residue that could interfere with coating adhesion. Unwanted holes and imperfections within the cladding were carefully filled and repaired. The repaired areas were then prepared to create a smooth transition into the surrounding panels. Adjacent surfaces and areas not being sprayed were carefully protected before the coating was applied. This detailed preparation created a clean, stable surface suitable for the new specialist coating system.
Completed finish
The completed first phase transformed the appearance of the dealership’s external cladding, replacing the tired and inconsistent finish with a clean, modern RAL 9005 Jet Black appearance. Repairs to the unwanted holes blended neatly into the surrounding elevations, while the spray-applied Selemix coating produced an even and professional finish across the cladding panels. The renewed black cladding created a strong foundation for the dealership’s wider refurbishment and complemented Geely’s modern corporate appearance. Phase one was completed ready for our return to undertake the curtain walling, sliding entrance doors and remaining entrance features.
