Cladding Spraying Contractors

Apex sprays suitable existing metal cladding on industrial and commercial buildings. Where the sheets remain sound, a properly prepared coating can restore a consistent colour and protective finish without replacing the whole elevation.

Check the sheets before specifying a coating

We assess the existing coating, adhesion, corrosion and condition of sheet edges before proposing refurbishment. Failed paint is removed and sound edges are feathered; damaged areas are repaired and corrosion treated where appropriate. Severely deteriorated sheets may need separate repair or replacement before spraying is viable.

Colour changes across complete elevations

Cleaning, masking and suitable primers come before the specified finish coats. Fascias, downpipes, trims and shutters can be included in the same programme when their substrates and condition allow. The result is planned around the building's exposure and the client's chosen RAL colours.

From weathered sheets to a prepared surface

A durable cladding recoat starts with the condition of the existing panels. Contamination and loose material are removed; sound coating edges are feathered; defects and corrosion are treated in a way suited to the substrate. Particular care is needed around fixings, laps, gutters and sheet edges, where water can undermine a new finish. The primer and topcoat are selected for the prepared surface rather than chosen by colour alone.

Cladding projects that show the standard

At Maher in Sheffield, Apex pressure washed, cleaned and degreased the cladding before applying a RAL 5026 Pearl Night Blue finish. At the former Travis Perkins buildings in Leeds, the cladding was part of a larger coordinated industrial refurbishment. Dawn Foods in Evesham required removal of failing coatings and corrosion treatment before recoating. Each dedicated case study below connects the claims on this page to a real building and its project photographs.

Cut edges, repairs and adjoining details

Cut-edge corrosion is assessed separately because a cosmetic topcoat alone will not resolve it. Where the metal remains suitable for treatment, failed material is removed, the edge is prepared and a compatible protective system is specified. Severely weakened sheets may require repair or replacement. Fascias, gutters, downpipes, shutters and doors can be assessed alongside cladding so the colour scheme and work sequence are coordinated across the whole elevation.

Plan the coating around the building

We consider height, access equipment, neighbouring vehicles, occupied entrances and weather exposure before confirming a programme. Cleaning and preparation must be completed before masking and application, with suitable time allowed between coating stages under the product specification. Apex works across the UK and can discuss staged elevations or a wider site refurbishment. The proposal is based on the condition of the actual cladding, not a promise that every panel can simply be sprayed.

The work behind the finish

Preparation and application

01

Inspect sheets, coatings, cut edges and corrosion

02

Wash, degrease, remove flaking paint and feather sound edges

03

Repair and treat defects, then prime where specified

04

Mask surrounding surfaces, spray finish coats and inspect

Specified for the surface

Coating systems

The system depends on panel material, previous coating and exposure. Apex has used Selemix Direct 2K polyurethane, epoxy primers and corrosion treatment on suitable projects. Coating cannot replace necessary sheet repairs or a separate cut-edge corrosion specification.

Common questions

Planning your project

What affects the cost of cladding spraying?

Panel area and height are starting points. Adhesion, failed coatings, corrosion, repairs, access equipment, masking, colours and weather exposure affect the preparation and application programme. Wide views and close-ups help us identify where a site assessment is required.

How do you decide between recoating and replacement?

We assess the metal and existing finish before recommending a system. Serviceable sheets may be prepared and recoated, while perforated, weakened or otherwise unsuitable areas need separate repair or replacement. Coating is not a structural repair.

Can old metal cladding be sprayed instead of replaced?

Often, if the panels can be made sound. We assess adhesion, corrosion and damage before recommending a recoat.

Do you treat cut-edge corrosion?

We assess edges separately and specify appropriate preparation and treatment for their condition.

Can you change the RAL colour of a whole building?

Yes, suitable elevations can be recoated in an agreed RAL colour, with associated trims assessed individually.
