Apex completed project
Apex Specialist Spray Coatings Ltd was appointed to completely refurbish the exterior of this tired and weathered commercial building in Newark, ready for its new use as a veterinary practice. The project required extensive cleaning, corrosion treatment, cladding repairs and surface preparation before the entire exterior could be professionally spray coated. The client selected RAL 9005 Jet Black to create a smart, contemporary appearance and provide the property with a strong, premium new identity.
Before work began
The exterior had become tired, weathered and dated. Dirt, grime, moss and grease had accumulated across the surfaces, while areas of the existing coating had started to deteriorate. Several cladding panels contained imperfections and damaged areas, and corrosion was present along a number of exposed cut edges. These problems required thorough preparation and specialist treatment before a new coating system could be applied.
The Apex standard
The building received a full deep clean using an industrial degreaser followed by pressure washing at approximately 3,500 PSI. This removed accumulated dirt, grime, moss, grease and loose or unstable coatings. Corroded cut edges were mechanically prepared using an angle grinder to remove loose rust and deteriorated material back to clean, sound metal. A specialist rust converter and corrosion-protection treatment was then applied. Damaged cladding panels and surface imperfections were repaired, filled and prepared to produce a smooth, uniform surface. All remaining areas were thoroughly prepared, keyed and cleaned before coating to promote maximum adhesion and a professional finish.
Completed finish
The completed refurbishment has completely transformed the previously tired and weathered building into a smart, modern and professional veterinary practice. The bold RAL 9005 Jet Black finish has unified every part of the exterior and created a premium architectural appearance. In addition to dramatically improving the building’s presentation, the carefully prepared coating system provides durable, long-term protection against weathering and further surface deterioration.
