Former Suzuki Dealership to BYD Showroom – Full Exterior Spray Transformation — Weymouth, Dorset
Apex Specialist Spray Coatings Ltd was appointed to transform a former Suzuki dealership in Weymouth into a modern new BYD showroom. The project involved professionally refurbishing and spray coating the exterior cladding and associated external surfaces to completely update the appearance of the existing building.
Rather than replacing serviceable cladding and exterior components, the existing surfaces were refurbished and professionally spray finished using a leading-brand 2K polyurethane coating system. The selected finish was RAL 7005 – Mouse Grey, creating a smart, contemporary appearance designed to complement the modern BYD dealership identity.
The objective was to achieve more than a simple colour change. The project required a professional commercial finish with excellent durability, weather resistance and UV resistance while producing the smooth, consistent, factory-quality appearance expected from a modern automotive showroom.

The property was an existing Suzuki dealership that required a significant visual update as part of its transformation into a new BYD showroom.
Although much of the existing exterior cladding and associated surfaces remained serviceable, the building’s previous appearance no longer suited the new dealership identity. Replacing otherwise usable cladding would have introduced considerably greater cost, material use and disruption.
Professional spray refurbishment therefore provided an effective solution, allowing the existing building envelope to be retained while completely changing its external appearance and bringing it in line with the clean, modern presentation required for the new BYD showroom.

Before application of the new coating system, the exterior cladding and associated surfaces were professionally prepared to provide a suitable substrate for the 2K polyurethane finish.
Particular attention was given to ensuring the surfaces were clean, sound and ready to receive the new coating. Areas surrounding the spray zones were carefully protected and masked to control overspray and maintain clean, accurate edges throughout the refurbishment.
Correct preparation is a fundamental part of professional commercial spray coating. The quality and longevity of the final finish depend heavily on the condition of the substrate beneath it, which is why preparation and protection were completed before the finishing system was applied.
