ServiceShopfront metalwork preparation, rust treatment, priming and spray coating
Coating systemPrimer was applied to the prepared metalwork, followed by white Selemix 2K polyurethane. The coating gave the columns and canopy beams a consistent finish across the renovated shopfront.

Before work began
Original condition
The columns and canopy beams had accumulated a considerable amount of dirt and grime over the years. There were also areas of rust on the metalwork. These surfaces needed more than a fresh coat of paint: the contamination had to be removed and the corroded areas prepared so the primer and finish could be applied to a sound surface.
The Apex standard
Preparation
I cleaned down all eight columns and the beams above the canopy, removing the built-up dirt from the exposed metalwork. I then degreased the surfaces and ground back the rusted areas. Once the metalwork was clean and prepared, I applied primer to the areas requiring protection before moving on to the finish coats.
Completed finish
The result
The eight columns and the glass-supporting canopy beams now have a clean, uniform white finish. Removing the years of grime, preparing the rusted metalwork and recoating these prominent features gave the ScS entrance a much fresher, more cared-for appearance.
