Industrial Spray Painting Contractors
Apex plans and delivers spray painting programmes for factories, warehouses and industrial units across the UK. We work with owners, facilities teams and contractors who need a coordinated finish across multiple parts of an operational building.

An industrial refurbishment may include external cladding, roller shutters, doors, fascias and exposed steelwork, alongside suitable internal walls and beams. Apex surveys the condition of each surface and agrees access, masking and the work sequence around vehicles, staff and production before application begins.
Preparation matched to the building
Cleaning, pressure washing, abrasion, removal of failed paint, corrosion treatment and compatible primers are specified where needed. The chosen coating system and RAL finish depend on the substrate and service conditions; the same product is not automatically suitable for every surface on a site.
Refurbishment while a site is in use
Industrial spraying needs a practical programme as well as a sound coating specification. We discuss production hours, deliveries, loading bays, pedestrian routes, vehicles and the areas that must remain accessible. Masking, ventilation, overspray control and the order of work are agreed for the actual premises. Where a shutdown is available, the team can plan concentrated preparation and application during that window; otherwise suitable areas can be completed in stages.
Real factory and warehouse experience
At the former Travis Perkins site in Leeds, Apex refurbished two industrial buildings and coordinated cladding, shutters, doors, rainwater goods, fencing, barriers, steelwork and internal breeze-block walls. At Dawn Foods in Evesham, the preparation included chemical cleaning, pressure washing, removal of failing coatings and treatment of corroded areas before the buildings were recoated. These jobs show why each surface needs its own preparation and finish within one overall programme.
A specification built around the substrate
A warehouse elevation, steel beam, shutter and internal wall do not all take the same coating. We check the existing surface and exposure, identify loose paint or corrosion, and decide where repairs, a compatible primer or a different application method are necessary. Colours and sheen are confirmed before spraying. We describe the proposed preparation and coating sequence in the quotation so the client understands what is included and which defects need separate attention.
A finish that supports the whole property
A coordinated refurbishment can bring faded or mismatched industrial surfaces into a consistent colour scheme while protecting sound building fabric. Apex can assess adjoining fascias, gutters, doors and safety details as part of the same visit, so the finished building does not look partly completed. We photograph the work and inspect the coated areas at handover, with maintenance and manufacturer product terms explained for the system specified.
The work behind the finish
Preparation and application
Clean, degrease, remove failed coatings and repair defects
Mask adjacent areas, prime where needed and spray finish coats
Inspect the work and hand over the completed areas
Specified for the surface
Coating systems
We specify preparation and compatible coating systems for each substrate. Suitable projects may call for corrosion treatment, epoxy primer and polyurethane finish coats; fire protection requires a separately specified intumescent system.

Common questions
Planning your project
How is a factory or warehouse spraying programme priced?
Surface area, access height, preparation, corrosion, repairs, protection and phased working determine the scope. Share elevation photographs, dimensions, operating hours and shutdown dates. We agree the included surfaces and any exclusions before confirming a programme.
What should be agreed before spraying starts?
The scope, colour and sheen, access, work zones, protection of stock and machinery, coating specification and return-to-service arrangements should be confirmed. Drying and recoating times follow the selected products and actual conditions.
Can work be planned around an operating factory?
Often, yes. We agree access, protection, safe working areas and a staged sequence around operations where practical.
Which surfaces can be included?
Suitable cladding, shutters, doors, fascias, steelwork, selected roofs and internal surfaces can be assessed together, with a specification for each substrate.
Do you work outside Yorkshire?
Yes. Apex is based in York and undertakes suitable industrial projects across the UK.
